The PA (Palestinian Authority) has dismissed close to 1,000 policemen deployed in areas in Yehuda and Shomron fearing they are aligned with Hamas and not Fatah.

Since Hamas rose to power in Gaza, under the leadership of Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah, the split between Hamas and Fatah Prime Minister Abu Mazen has widened and the Fatah leader is now implementing measures to prevent a Hamas takeover of autonomous areas throughout Yehuda and Shomron.

As Hamas’ powerbase continues to grow, Fatah officials have begun questioning the loyalty and allegiance of police throughout Yehuda and Shomron, leading to the dismissal of almost 1,000 policemen.
