Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz was joined by hundreds of supporters on Tuesday, officially announcing his candidacy for the Kadima leadership race.
Mofaz, a former IDF chief of staff and defense minister, is using his extensive security background to promote his candidacy, stating anyone who will eventually run for the premiership must have an extensive understanding of defense and security issues.
Mofaz also took advantage of the forum, quoting from Navi to promise he will never compromise Yerushalayim, and he will continue fighting for a united Jewish Yerushalayim, the capital of the Jewish People.
According to the polls monitoring the Kadima leadership race, Mofaz hold the second position, behind Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
