A 26-year-old Jewish woman disguised herself as an Arab and ran toward the IDF soldiers at the Metzadot Yehuda junction in Har Chevron while brandishing an airsoft gun and yelling “Allahu Akbar.”

The security forces returned fire and “neutralized” the woman, who was apparently attempting to commit suicide. Tragically, she was declared dead at the scene.

Prior to the incident, the woman had taken a selfie of herself dressed as an Arab and holding an airsoft gun. She sent the photo to a friend and asked: “If someone wants to be shot because he wants to die and feigns a terror attack at a checkpoint in the territories, will he go to jail if he only gets shot in the legs and remains alive?”

The friend understood that the woman was likely referring to herself and sent the photo to the police and reported the incident. The police reportedly sent notices to various checkpoints but apparently, not all of them received them in time.

“She sent me a photo of herself wearing a hijab and the gun and asked me what would happen if she was only shot in the legs,” the friend told Channel 12 News. “I didn’t know if she was serious but I said I would report anyway.”

“She said she was on a bus on the way to the checkpoint to carry out an attack and kill herself. I called the police and sent them the photo she sent me an hour and a half before the attack. Maybe her life could have been saved.”

The woman was later identified as Sapir Livnat Green, a’h. Sadly, she has a long history of severe mental health issues and has been hospitalized several times. She had a difficult and traumatic background and spent most of her childhood in boarding schools.

Despite her difficulties, she insisted on serving in the IDF, advocating for herself to be drafted despite her background, and served as a lone soldier (without parental support) as a combat soldier in the Israel Border Police.

The Defense Ministry stated: “An investigation of the shooting incident at Metzudat Yehudah a short while ago revealed that it was apparently a young Jewish woman who arrived at the crossing from the Israeli side. The suspect arrived on foot from the Yatir yishuv wearing black clothing and approached the security guards. At one point, she pulled out a weapon and started running toward the guards, shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’. The guards ‘neutralized’ her before she could shoot.”
