VICIOUS HATE: Grandson Of Angel Bakery Founder Incites Against Chareidim

The boycott against Angel Bakery that began on Thursday continued on Sunday but as of yet there has been no official response from the company.

However, Yoel Spiegel, the grandson of the founder of Angel Bakery, responded to the  boycott by inciting against the Chareidi sector in a post that was later removed by Facebook after numerous complaints of incitement

“There’s no limit to the chutzpah of part of the Chareidi sector in the State of Israel,” he wrote. “They eat for free…they’re evaders [of the draft], dark in their opinions and above all are hypocrites.”

“Omar Bar-Lev is the chairman of the board of directors of Angel Bakery (the same bakery that my grandfather and his brother founded over a century ago and my uncle served as the CEO for many years), but long before his position as chairman of the board of directors he is a citizen of the State of Israel, and as a citizen, he has the right to protest where and when he chooses as long as it is carried out legally.”

“I don’t remember any law forbidding demonstrations opposite the home of this or that Rav and the response of the public that eats ‘neveilos’ and free food stems from fear and hysteria because the rope is tightening around their necks.”

“The days of free food are over. The day of judgment is approaching and no boycott will stop us from correcting the injustice of years. We’ll end the evasions and parasitism.”

Spiegel then appealed to the public who oppose “the chutzpah of the boycotting Chareidi public” by buying Angel bread today. He then signed his posts with extremely inflammatory words that cannot be repeated on YWN.

Following the post’s removal, Spiegel posted a screenshot of it and wrote: “The one who removed my post will face consequences” and then continued to write words of incitement against Chareidim.

Facebook subsequently removed his account entirely.

  1. Well if we “eat free food”, we don’t need to “buy” from Angel, so what’s he so worried about anyway?

  2. Both sides should cool the rhetoric. The religious parties’ efforts to jam through a permanent exemption from any type of national service while the negotiations on the “judicial reform” are deadlocked are beyond stupid but the demonstrations by the left at the home of chashuvah rabbonin are equally stupid.

  3. An Am Ha’aretz hates Talmidei Chachamim so much, he wants to bite them like a donkey. So what else is new?

  4. Difficult call
Does one buy because it has a good hechsher
    Or
    Boycott because of Koved Hatorah
Which is worse this post or the Rabbis
    honor ?????

  5. We can not afford a two-sided boycott war of attrition.
We must start playing fairly and start serving in the Military just like all citizens.
Especially now that the Chareidim are becoming such a majority.

  6. I will never buy Angel products nor will I ever beneothis bakery with a pledge of donation. Shame on the man. He invented nothing. He is a freeloading inheritor sponging off his family. Pathetic. Nemo’s Bakery best

  7. This boycott thing is a stupid debate and we should be spending more time in mitzvos than wasting time fuelling or campaigning for the boycott. This person is a rasha and we should pay no attention to what he says…”The rope is tightening around their necks”…who talks like that?! But he’s right about one thing: “The day of judgment is approaching.”

  8. ader – are you aware that military service for Haredim is designed to make US more moder, less frum, or better yet totally assimilated? Just listen over to what Liberman and Lapid had to say on the issue.

  9. He says……“I don’t remember any law forbidding demonstrations opposite the home of this or that Rav….”

    Well no problem then.
I don’t know of any law anywhere that says people can’t boycott a product or company either.

He feels it’s fine to protest outside the Gadol Hador, then we want to boycott his company.

Why is he getting so upset?
    It works both ways.

As the saying goes….dont play with fire, you might get burned.
    This was their choice.

Companies need to stay out of politics or risk the consequences!

  10. Sinas Chinum. So sad.
But he is not the enemy.
We need to rise above this incident and move on. We are still brothers – the religious and non religious, the right, the left and everyone in between.
Angel bakery learned that hurting a Gadol HaTorah has consequences. Refusing to defend our country has consequences as well. A compromise via our esteemed politicians will go a long way to promoting peace on the streets. Isnt peace what the Torah teaches us to pursue?

  11. The Chareidim contribute to the Army by learning Torah round the clock and round the country . The Torah is our Patriot missle to save us from our enemies and from people who want to harm our nation .
We pray and learn for our soldiers on the front line.

  12. Grandson didn’t work to make the money didn’t even lift a finger to sift flour…I will always stand with the Chareidi before I walk with anyone in reform or liberal movement..this young man needs a spanking, his grandfather ZAIDY……started this and this bag of bone didn’t do a thing except cause hatred…never will I buy Angel Bakery products period

  13. an other am haaretz. They will close their doors soon i m sure. And they call it a jewish state worser then the gojim

  14. YWN needs to provide here some context as to what he means when he says that “Chareidim eat for free”, I think it has something to do the that price is the same eventhough with their hechscher they hardly making money on it, so they claim. I’m not saying he’s right, but it’s better if the article is written more fairly with more information to get the full picture.

  15. We should cool the rhetoric. It might make us feel really good to believe that so many people resent us for learning Torah and doing mitzvose but it’s just not true. Instead, a large part of the population sees that most Israelis dedicate two or three years of their lives for the good of the country, either serving in the army or volunteering through sheirut leumi. These people don’t believe/understand that every single guy learning in yeshiva for 10 years (or hanging out in the coffee room) is contributing to the tzibbur in the same way as they and their brothers and their children did, sacrificing so much, and often risking their lives, for their country. There are non-chareidis that also don’t participate in this and they are also very much resented by many people.

  16. I think it also makes them sad, and also resentful, to see so many people relying on nissim to survive instead of responsibly preparing for work to provide for their families. Most people can’t just wake up one day when they’re 29 and begin thinking about work for the first time and expecting to find something. Just like most people can’t wake up at 29 and decide they want to become a talmid chacham. These things happen but they’re rare and they believe it is irresponsible to behave like this.

  17. To: I hate communism
The only reason they dislike Frumkeit is because they see, that we are using Frumkeit as an excuse for not joining the military.
No, they don’t like the idea that their children should be the only ones fighting in a war.
    Could you blame them?

  18. @Loshenhora – not a shailoh at all. There are other bakeries we can and should support with excellent hechsherim. He deserves to lose his company, he’s a disgusting anti-semite. I hope the workers jump ship to Berman’s and others so THEY don’t suffer.

  19. “The only reason they dislike Frumkeit is because they see, that we are using Frumkeit as an excuse for not joining the military.
No, they don’t like the idea that their children should be the only ones fighting in a war.
    Could you blame them?“

    Really? The only reason?

Do you think the chilonim love the ones that join the army? I got news for you they hate chilonim regardless

More than the goyim hate Jews the am Haaretz hates the talmid chacham

  20. To coffee ad:
    Just your fantasy.
They can’t stand the idea that we are entitled to all things that the Medina has to offer, but yet, only their children are forced to serve in the military.

  21. ader
It they were interested in accommodating Frum soldiers – there would be allot more of them!
There are allot of FFB boys looking for an outlet. IDF could be great, if it did not try to brainwash, better yet machshil its soldiers in Gilui Arayos.
Unfortunately, they have plenty of it going on, thanks to boy & girls being recruited and serving side by side.
Ask around ppl who served in IDF, it will open your eyes to what it is all about.

  22. The greatest parasites are the secular who rely on the American foreign aid. That is much more than what the religious get.
