Addressing new tank corps inductees a the IDF’s Bakum Induction Base, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi told soldiers the military is doing everything possible towards obtaining the release of Gilad Shalit.
In a surprise statement he added, “We know Gilad is alive. We know where he is being held. And we know who is holding him. We hope to bring this to an end soon.”
IDF officials report the statement does not provide any new information, explaining it has been known for sometime that Shalit is being held in Gaza, and by Hamas.
When asked by one of the new recruits what is being done to obtain his release, explaining that after basic training he and his colleagues will be on the front line, the military commander told them if chas v’sholom they one day are held captive, the army will do whatever possible to obtain their release. He went on to discuss the recent efforts towards obtaining the release of the bodies of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser.

So what are they waiting for?
Maybe they want him moved so they can track it and be sure of it. Do you really believe that if they know where he is, then the spot is not under constant surveillance. We live in a world where people talking to the press does little harm to any operation.
