Israel’s Consul General in New York Asaf Zamir has announced he is quitting his position shortly after it was announced that PM Netanyahu fired Defense Minister Yoav Gallant after he called for a halt to the planned reform of Israel’s judiciary.
Zamir announced his resignation on Twitter.
His first tweet said “I quit”, with an Israeli flag emoji.
That tweet was followed by a second tweet that included his resignation letter.

The past 18 months as Israel’s Consul General in New York were fulfilling and rewarding, but following today’s developments, it is now time for me to join the fight for Israel's future to ensure it remains a beacon of democracy and freedom in the world. Here is the letter I sent: pic.twitter.com/Sfz8y3ALLv

He’s excess! He’s not needed. If he can’t appreciate the government for which he must stand by, then he can join the opposition! Obviously, from his recklessness – his quick decision – he doesn’t really appreciate the position he carried. He’s excess! Good bye! To be replaced by a more rational individual.
A hold out from the last govt in Israel that we can do without.
