Lt. Nadav Weinberg, 22 who was seriously wounded in the Ir Dovid terror attack last month was released from the hospital on Friday morning.
Weinberg, an IDF officer who was on leave for Shabbos, was walking home from shul with his father right outside the Old City when he was shot by a 13-year-old terrorist. Despite sustaining two bullet wounds in his chest, Weinberg managed to return fire at the terrorist, thwarting him from shooting more Jews.
Weinberg was hospitalized in very serious condition and underwent multiple surgeries to save his lungs. However, his condition worsened and he began to experience multi-system failure and was attached to an ECMO machine. However, B’Chasdei Hashem, and with the dedication of the medical staff, his condition gradually improved. On Friday, he was released from Shaare Tzedek and entered Sheba Hospital in Tel HaShomer for rehabilitation.
Nadav’s father was also wounded in the attack but was released several days later.
