Or Ascher, 32, and Rotem Mansano, 34, were critically and seriously injured in the shooting attack in Tel Aviv on Thursday evening.

Prof. Ronni Gamzu, the director of Ichilov Hospital, said that Or arrived in critical condition but his condition has stabilized and his life is no longer in danger.

“He was evacuated and treated very quickly and was swiftly taken to the operating room,” Gamzu said. “There is some improvement but he still has a long road ahead of him. His injury was serious. He’s stable and I want to be optimistic.”

Regarding the second victim, Rotem, Prof. Gamzu said: “He’s in intensive care. The bullet hit his spine near the very sensitive nervous system. He woke up after the anesthetic wore off and he’s communicating with us. We hope that his condition improves and we can wean him from the ventilator.”
