Six Jews were arrested overnight Sunday for alleged involvement in the riots and arson in the Arab village of Huwara in the Shomron, which broke out following the murder of Hillel and Yigal Yaniv, h’yd on Sunday afternoon.
Jews engaged in violent riots at the site of the attack in Huwara, setting homes, stores and cars on fire. Clashes broke out between Jews and Arabs and several Jews were injured by rocks hurled at them.
Israeli security forces rescued nine Palestinian families from burning houses. Security forces gained control over the riots at about 11 pm, using gas and stun grenades to disperse the Jewish rioters.

IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi arrived at the site of the riots and held a situational assessment and preliminary investigation of the incident. Following the assessment, the IDF announced the addition of two battalions to the Yehudah and Shomron division and an increase in security checks of vehicles traveling to and from Shechem. On Monday morning, the IDF announced it was adding a third battalion to the Yehudah and Shomron division.
