Moving Story: “Now It’s Your Turn, Ribbono Shel Olam”

Yosele Bregman

Chareidi journalist and media consultant Yosele Bregman wrote a moving story about the caring of old friends amid a tumultuous night in the Knesset.

Yosele Bregman, 26, is an older Chassidish bochur, with most of his friends from his younger days long since married.

“I have crazy friends,” Bregman wrote. “A friend who was in Cheder (!) with me contacted me and told me that all my friends are getting together for a tefillah since I haven’t yet married. I thought they were laughing at me. ‘What happened all of a sudden? You all got married seven years ago, now you remember?'”

“They came this evening and pulled me out of the Knesset amid the speeches on the judicial reform. My friend told me: ‘Yosele, leave your politicians for a few hours and come to the tefillah.'”

“I decided to go with them. We went to Kever Shmuel HaNavi, around 70 friends from all over Israel, without exaggeration! From Teveria, Modiin Illit, Givat Ze’ev, Jerusalem, Beitar Illit, and Kiryat Gat.”

“All of them together, without exception, began to daven for whom? For me!”

“I moved on long ago but they haven’t forgotten about me. It was very moving, I can’t even explain how much. I told you my friends are crazy?”

“We organized a Rosh Chodesh seudah and they collected close to NIS 50,000 for a shadchan. Don’t forget that we’re talking about a chevrah who barely makes it through the month.”

“Now it’s Your turn, Ribbono Shel Olam,” Yosele poignantly concluded.

  1. He may want to consider giving up smoking as a form of histadlus. It could a turn off for many girls. It is also a good move for his health.

We can talk about the smart phone next but that is a whole other parsha….

  2. Sorry guys, you missed the point.
The punch line is right here.
The very fact that 70 friends who have long moved on still remembered, and took a chunk out of their schedules (and their pockets) to do something for an old friend. THAT IS THE STORY.
Sf the story only ends for you when there is the desired result, then you missed the whole point.

  3. bless the search and ah main on the quest accomplished and a bride and family awaiting, thank you for the moving experience from evil talk to an evening of prayer and what Israel is all about…..don’t forget the Cedar….I remember now…..
