Mass protests were held on Monday against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s plans to enact judicial reforms, with thousands of protesters making their way to Jerusalem and demonstrating outside the Knesset, where preliminary votes on two of the judicial reform laws will be held at about 10 p.m.

Beginning early in the morning at about 6 a.m., groups of protesters tried to block some coalition members from leaving their homes to travel to the Knesset, including the chairman of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law and Justice Committee Simcha Rothman, Education Minister Yoav Kisch and Agriculture Minister Avi Dichter.

A group of protesters also sat outside the apartment of Likud MK Tali Gottlieb. When Gottlieb requested that they quiet down because her autistic daughter can’t tolerate noise, they refused to cooperate and told her she would be staying home today.

The police dispersed the protesters and arrested two of them. Six other protesters were arrested outside the home of other MKs.

Gottlieb later told Kol Chai: “Wild animals – there’s no other term for it – were waiting for me outside my home and blocked me from leaving. The police took the necessary action. It made me realize how important it is to carry out these reforms.”

The protesters outside Rothman’s home:

Thousands of protesters, who have declared a “National Day of Struggle,” blocked major highways in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem and other cities beginning at about 8 a.m.

  1. These chilonim are evil wicked rishaim! They don’t even keep the basic Sheva mitzvos bnei Noach. Evil sinners. 4/5 of the “Jews” didn’t make it out of Mitzraim. Now we can understand what is going to happen real soon with the coming of Moshiach.

  2. This can only happen in Israel. Its ashame to read this. This people are not only leftist they have no manners no heart and are chillonom worse then the gojim. And this should be a Jewish state.

  3. When right wing protesters tried to block roads in protest of the Gaza withdrawal the police didn’t hesitate to act forcefully….

  4. I don’t recall the YWN headline writer using the term “animals” to describe protestors during the Hafganot when Auerbach’s hooligans were blocking streets disrupting tens of hundreds of thousands of Israelis, blocking emergency vehicles etc. What ever happened to “fair and balanced”.
There is no excuse for this type of illegal disruption under any scenario, right or left, religious or secular.

  5. Rotten liberal drek.
They’re protesting because they don’t want their liberal judges to be chosen and have to answer to the majority of Israelis. Namely the ones that voted for the man attempting to reform the most corrupt political aspect of the Israeli government.
It’s also interesting to note how the liberals look the same in every society.

  6. These are my brothers and sisters. They are so misguided.
I wish there was a way to have dialogue and discussion. Glad the police were able to remove them, I wish there was a way to have productive discussion.

  7. I’m waiting for the police to start beating and shoving these protesters just like you see in Meah Shearim.
Amazing how the leftist freaks look similar, whether in Israel or the US. All that’s missing is some purple hair.

  8. these are the same people who vote for every kind of anti-torah shmutz, wave LGBTQ flags, are mechalel shabbos, eat treif, and want a reform section opened up at the western wall.

the only בושה has been allowing these goyim with their anti-torah ideology to govern Eretz Yisroel for the past 75 years.

they only like democracy when it goes along with their goyish anti-torah views. as soon as it doesn’t they behave like anarchists.

the good thing is that it’s getting better each subsequent year as the number of orthodox with right-wing torah ideology are growing more and more in the holy land

  9. coffee addict: I dont change my mind. This is a goyische medine and goisch behaving like those jews celebrating christmas in a so called jewish state.

  10. To the smallminded person called Gedolhadorah. What a chutzpa that you have referring to the gaon, Rav Shmuel Auerbach zatzal without proper respect. Even if we don’t follow his position, which I don’t either, we still need to realistically realize that he was a gadol b’Yisroel and an Ish Kadosh. He was a giant among men, and needs to be referred to as such!

  11. Disgusting dirty greasy chilonim – let them get a job! maybe if they werent studying in college all day – and get a job – they wouldnt have time / be bored – to waste time on this…..

  12. Gadol Hadorah, what an ignorant and stupid comment…
I’m sure you would have been one of those helenists that yelled at Matisyahu and the Macabim.
What chutzpa to call a gadol beyisroel “Aurbach hooligans”? Whether you were raised with that jhashkafa or not…
BTW the majority of the litvishe gedolim strongly supported that shita, it was only certain approaches they took that were disputed, but that is a discussion for itself. Either way YWN should please remove that derogatory comment.

  13. Wow, our dear brothers and sisters are so miseducated and ignorant. This is terrible!

May Hashem open up their eyes and enlighten them with the truth and beauty of Torah, causing them to do complete Teshuva.

Hopefully, we will also do Teshuva for all of the wrongs that we have done (yes, I am frum, but I have done many aveiros and mistakes) and we will have the Geulah for all of Klal Yisroel, as the Rambam writes:
ישראל עושים תשובה ומיד הן נגאלין

  14. Ish Hashalom: Go back in the YWN archives and read the multiple news stories and editorial commentary about the disruptions caused by the Hafganot day after day including blocking emergency vehicles, property destruction etc. The majority of rabbonim from all segments of the tzbiur strongly opposed the hooligans who engaged in those hafganot. Likewise, the leftist protests described in the article targeting individual MKs are equally disgusting.

  15. Let me see if I can understand the chiloni / liberal point of view.

If the liberals have a majority position on the Supreme Court, then democracy prevails.

If the conservatives have a majority position on the Supreme Court, then democracy is threatened / dies.

    Okay. I understand.

During the Viet Nam war the anti-war protestors held up signs which read ironically, “Kill for peace.”

These whacked-out Israeli libs should carry signs which declare, “We oppress for democracy.”

  16. The “reforms” being enacted have been watered down a bit but still take needed changes in the judicial system beyond what was needed to correct clear abuses in order to protect certain “individuals” from being prosecuted. However, elections have consequences and the voters were clearly told this would be the outcome so they can demonstrate but will have to live with it.

  17. @Gadolhadorah: I rarely respond to you, because we disagree on too much, but: “Auerbach”!?!?
For shame, you apikores. Wrong in his bviews or correct in his views, he was a budding gadol hador from probably before you were born, and the Torah (do you follow that?) requires extreme respect for such people no matter what you think of their views/policies (unless they become apikorsim/meisisim/meidichim, in which case, of course, you can break the Hell’s door-hinges loose and let your insults fly freely).
