“My Daughter Is A Great Woman But We Didn’t Know To What Extent”

HaRav Amos Broner, the grandfather of Asher, h’yd, and Yaakov, h’yd, Paley spoke on Kol B’Ramah on Sunday morning.

“The terrorist hit them on purpose,” Rav Broner said. [According to witnesses, the terrorist pulled up to the bus stop and waited there until the Paley family arrived and then intentionally plowed into them.] “Two were killed. One was lightly injured and released from the hospital. One lingered a bit in the car and didn’t go to the bus stop and was saved.”

“Two children died and two were saved.  [The other children were at home when the attack occurred.] The father is still unaware of the magnitude of the tragedy. My daughter, whose children were murdered, called to tell me. She is a great and strong woman but we didn’t know to what extent.”

Regarding the condition of his son-in-law, Rav Avraham Noach Paley, Rav Broner said: “He’s sedated and ventilated. The doctors say that he’ll need to undergo a long rehabilitation. They don’t want to operate on him after all the wounds and fractures because they’re afraid his body is too weak to withstand it.”

Sadly, this isn’t the first tragedy that Rav Broner had undergone in recent times. A year and a half ago, he suffered the sudden petirah of his son, HaGaon HaRav Dovid Broner, z’tl, the Mashgiach of Yeshivos Nesivos Chachmah-Wolfson. HaRav Broner passed away in his sleep the day after Simchas Torah at the young age of 44.

The public is asked to daven for a refuah sheleimah for Avraham Noach Ben Yehudis b’toch sha’ar cholei Yisrael.
