Fuad Blames the Treasury for Water Crisis

National Infrastructure Minister (Labor) Binyamin (Fuad) Ben-Eliezer believes the current water crisis is due in no small part to the treasury. The minister is calling for a commission of inquiry into the current water crisis, blaming “a number of clerks” in the Finance Ministry for sabotaging the construction of water de-salination plants and other water treatment facilities that should have been up-and-running today.

Ben-Eliezer’s ministry is responsible for the nation’s water, and he contends that it is the treasury that has halted progress on water issues since the beginning of 2008, now almost a decade ago.

In response to the minister’s accusation, the treasury released a statement that the National Infrastructure Ministry’s handling of the nation’s water over recent years has been “scandalous”.
