Giving the Likud opposition party a big boost, retired IDF major-general, Uzi Dayan, a former chief of military intelligence, announced he is joining the Likud Party.
An official announcement will take place on Monday in a press conference with the party’s leader, MK Binyamin Netanyahu.
Officials point out that Dayan was not promised a slot on the party list, but he will be compelled to run in the party primaries.
Other notables who have announced they too will be joining the ranks of Likud include retired IDF Northern District Commander, Major-General Yossi Peled, and former basketball star Tal Brodi.
Likud officials are anxiously awaiting a response from retired IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Moshe Ya’alon, who is currently a fellow in the Jerusalem-based Shalem Center.
With the investigations ongoing against the prime minister, one can safely assume that honesty in government will be a major campaign issue in the upcoming national elections.
