United States Special Representative for Iran Robert Malley met with Iran’s ambassador to the UN Saeed Iravani at least three times in the past two months, Iran International reported on Wednesday.
The US State Department did not deny the report and in response to inquiries, confirmed that messages are being delivered to Iran despite the fact that the JCPOA, “is not on the agenda.”
State Department spokesperson Ned Price said in response to inquiries by Iran International on January 17: “We have the means to deliver specific and firm messages to Iran when it is in America’s interest to do so.”
“But we’re not going to get into details about how we deliver these messages, except to say that we do so in close coordination with allies and partners.”
