At the start of his daily shiur in Yeshivas Ponevezh on Wednesday, HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein said words of hesped for HaGaon HaRav Shimon Badani, z’tl, who was niftar on Wednesday morning at about 8:30 a.m.

“The influence of a great person is missing now,” the Rosh Yeshivah said. ” Chaval al d’advdin, we need siyata dishmaya. Everyone needs to be mechazeik and Shamayim will have rachamim on us.”

“It’s a very great loss. B’ezras Hashem, his influence will continue. We need chizzuk, the tzibur needs to be mechazeik. It influences each person. Each person should take a sefer mussar. Shamayim should have rachamim.”

Earlier on Wednesday, shortly after the news of the petirah of HaRav Badani, z’tl, the Rosh Yeshivah instructed all the talmidei yeshivos and avreichim in Bnei Brak to participate in the levaya.

Later on Wednesday, the Rosh Yeshivah attended the levaya, which began at 1 p.m. from Kollel Torah V’Chayim on Rechov Rabi Akiva in Bnei Brak.
