Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Public Security Minister Avi Dichter have condemned statements made against Israel Police and the Office of the State Prosecutor last week by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, warning his remarks compromise the integrity of these essential agencies.
Addressing a women’s function in Labor Party Headquarters, the party leader hinted to the prime minister, opting not to refer to him by name, warning against statements seeking to compromise the integrity of the judicial system and its associated agencies, stating the police, prosecutor and courts are integral and essential components of our democratic system.
Dichter, a member of Olmert’s Kadima Party, has already called on the prime minister to resign. In his most recent statements, he rejected the prime minister’s “aggressive assault against law-enforcement agencies”.
