Karnit Goldwasser, Ehud Goldwasser’s widow, released a statement that now, “It’s Gilad Shalit’s turn,” focusing efforts to assist in obtaining the release of the IDF soldier who is being held by Hamas terrorists since June 25, 2006.
After sitting shiva for their sons/husband, the parents of Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev feel compelled to assist the Shalits, wishing to do whatever they can towards actualizing Gilad’s release.
“Only when Gilad is home will our mission be completed,” added Karnit.
The cabinet is coming under increasing criticism for moving ahead with the Regev-Goldwasser deal while placing Shalit on the back burner, when it was known the two soldiers were dead while Shalit continues suffering daily, in Hamas custody.
Intelligence community officials have stated that the prime minister’s willingness to enter into a ceasefire agreement with Hamas without including Shalit’s release has significantly compromised Israel’s hand towards obtaining his release.
Since the implementation of the Regev-Goldwasser deal last week, Hamas has released statements that “we have learned from Hizbullah,” openly stating the price for Shalit’s release will not be much higher, speaking of 1,000 terrorists, including Marwan Barghouti and Ahmed Sa’adat, who played a role in the 2001 assassination of Tourism Minister Rechavam Ze’evi HY”D.
