Shabavnik Assaults Gerrer Chossid

mishtara15.jpgThe incident occurred on Monday night, at about 1:00am on Levi Yitzchak Street in the “Hey” neighborhood of Bnei Brak.

A Gerrer Chossid reportedly about 40 commented to a young male, 19, a “shabavnik” (high-risk youth) to stop engaging in a prohibited act, demanding that he leave the area. The youth responded by assaulting the man, punching him all over his body, resulting in him requiring medical attention.

The attacker was apprehended and he admitted to his actions. Chareidi askanim intervened to ensure the youth was not released from custody by police according to the Ladaat.net report.

  1. How sad. I’m certainly not excusing such horrible behavior, but lets not forget this obviously very troubled youth is one of ours and still needs our help.

    yes he needs help
and it should come in the form of severe punishment.
a public flogging would be best.
if not, at least a significant period of incarceration.

  4. To # 7&8: are you guys living in the same world as us? Every neighborhood (and many many families) are suffering from young yiddishe neshomosh who were rejected by society for whatver reason (learning dissabilities, asking good questions etc…). These kids could be your brothers, cousines..
This Ger Chossid obviously did not engage this boy with empathay opting rather for the “Get out my neighborhood you filth!” type of talk.
Maybe he deserved what he got for giving mussar instead of showing love and caring.
