In his Wednesday evening meeting with Senator Barak Obama, who according to many is likely to become the next president of the United States, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert spelled out the Iranian nuclear threat as seen by the Israeli intelligence community.
According to reports, Olmert told the senator that Iran will have full nuclear capabilities by the end of 2009, or at he absolute latest, in the early part of 2010.This alarming reality explained the prime minister compels the international community to take action – adding the economic sanctions to date have not been successful and sterner measures must be taken.
He added that while the military option is still viable, there is much that can and must be done before entertaining a military strike against Iran.
During his stay in Israel, in meetings with senior government officials, Obama pledged his support to Israel’s future security, and her right to live in peace, adding that the international community may not permit Iran to achieve nuclear independence.
