Police and Israel Railway officials are investigating what appears to have been a hate crime attack against Roni; an Israel Railways watchman who over the weekend was hospitalized after four Arab males attacked him and beat him. According to hospital officials, he sustained multiple facial factures as well as bruises over his body.

Roni told police that the attackers kept demanding his weapon. He repeatedly explained that he was unarmed, but to no avail. Roni pushed the panic button in his watch station, number 10, but the security firm did not respond. His calls for assistance on his two-way radio also went unanswered.

There are no suspects in custody. The investigation continues.
