Cops & Prosecutor Decide to Get Tough Against Chareidim

ch Police and the state prosecutor have decided to get tough against chareidim in custody following last week’s violent protests around the country against the draft and in solidarity with a talmid who was incarcerated for not reporting for service. Police hope to “set an example” by using the full weight of the law against those arrested on Thursday evening in Ashdod.

Many members of the chareidi community were astonished to see the violence and Chilul Hashem, as some protesters felt they can set police vehicle ablaze and damage public property.

The indictment filed in the Ashdod Magistrate Court against 13 chareidim arrested in that area includes assaulting police, throwing bags of feces at police, burning police cars, damaging public property, and other related charges. The indictments were already filed on erev Shabbos.

Police explain they moved with the indictments as quickly as possible to send a strong warning to the chareidi tzibur regarding future protests.

  1. They keep promising to crack down after each violent demonstration but never do. Most of the demonstrators are following the instructions of gadolei yisroel, shlita, who have called for non-violent protests against what they consider as an unfair gazeirah. There is a small fringe of extremists within the Chareidi tizbur, however, that believe they are somehow entitled to throw stones, set fires, and verbally and physically abuse the police to express their policy disagreements with the government. That fringe element (probably few than 10 percent)should be arrested, prosecuted and sent to jail for as long as the law will allow.

  2. “includes assaulting police, throwing bags of feces at police, burning police cars, damaging public property, and other related charges”

They might call themselves chareidim, but if the charges are true they are not chareidim.

  3. The Israeli authorities are a bunch of tyrants who seize innocent Chareidim anywhere in the area and file false charges against them for things they had nothing remotely to do with due to their lack of ability to find or arrest the real mischief makers.

  4. Let’s not simply ignore some of the horrendous actions of the ‘chareidim’ that were not mentioned in this article – namely the photograph of the protesters pulling the tail of the horses – perhaps they can use the gathering of such a vast number of so to speak ‘frum’ individuals to teach the Halachos of Tzaar Ba’alei Chayim…….

  5. Dont believe everything you hear or read about against the charaidim. The I/Government is so corrupt and have no credit. They make the lives of the Charaidim a living “H”
