According to reports appearing in Spanish media, French, American and Israeli intelligence agents were involved in the rescue of Ingrid Betancourt from Columbian rebels. It took the intelligence agencies a year to develop the plan.
The rescue mission took place on July 2nd, successfully releasing Betancourt, 11 Columbian soldiers and a number of US nationals from FARC captivity.
According to the report, Israel’s participation was due to Jerusalem’s special relationship with Washington, seeking to assist in freeing the US nationals. France took part due to Betancourt’s French nationality.
