SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Sunday, day 33 of the virtual Gaza ceasefire.

*Today is Gilad Shalit’s 856th day in Hamas captivity.

*IDF soldiers involved in counter-terrorism operations throughout Yehuda and Shomron on motzei Shabbos arrested two terrorists, in Chevron and Shechem. The two were turned over to the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) for interrogation.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*A guard and two prisoners were lightly injured in a blaze in Tel Monde Prison on motzei Shabbos. They were treated for smoke inhalation.

*British PM Brown arrived in Israel on motzei Shabbos.

*Max Jaben, who qualified for the 200 meter freestyle swimming, became the second Israeli athlete to fail a recent drug test placing his participation in the 2008 Beijing Olympics in jeopardy.

*Talansky cross-examination to resume on Sunday morning in the Jerusalem District Court. The session is expected to last for 9 hours.

*Environmental Ministry on Sunday released a warning that one should distance oneself at least a half meter (19 inches) from a cellular telephone charger when a phone is being charged since it emits electromagnetic emissions.

*Visiting British PM Brown is scheduled to address the Knesset on Monday.
