Beersheva Mayor Yaakov Turner, who for the past ten years has served as the mayor of the southern city of Beersheva, announced he is in good health and plans to run for another term. Turner rejected the validity of rumors which state his health is declining.

Deputy Mayor Rubil Danilowitz resigned from his post and has announced he will compete against turner in the mayoral race.

Turner is a retired IAF brigadier-general and following his military career, served as chief of Israel Police before returning to his native Beersheva and running for mayor.
