The Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee on Monday voted to halt legal proceedings against 400 Jews who became entangled in the law as a result of their opposition to the government’s 2005 Gaza expulsion known as the Disengagement Plan. Most are facing charges of disturbing the peace and assaulting police.
The proposal was put forward by MKs Yitzchak Levy (NRP), Reuven Rivlin (Likud) and Amira Dotan (Kadima), and it also calls for wiping away the criminal record of the 400.
The committee also voted that criminal proceedings against 80 other opponents of the expulsion will continue.
