Military intelligence is concerned that following the Regev-Goldwasser prisoner exchange deal, which will most likely take place on Wednesday; Hizbullah may attempt an attack along the border or against a northern border community.
According to intelligence reports, the terror organization is indeed planning an attack or once again to abduct soldiers from along the border, perhaps in retaliation for the car bomb attack which claimed the life of the terror organization’s deputy commander. Israel has distanced herself from the attack, which occurred in Syria, but Hizbullah continues to hold Israel responsible for the murder.
In the meantime, the IDF is genuinely concerned regarding ‘the day after’ the exchange deal and as such, certain precautions are being taken to play down the actual prisoner exchange ceremony. The exchange will take place at the Rosh HaNikra Crossing which will be declared a closed military zone. The event will not be aired live on Israel TV, and there will be no speeches.
The prime minister approved the IDF’s request for the scaled-down event, which is in line with the wishes of both families, Regev and Goldwasser. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert does wish to participate, to be seen hugging the families, but at present, it is unknown if he will attend.
If the soldiers are indeed dead as is believed to be the case, then in all likelihood, a military funeral will take place on Thursday, which will include Mr. Olmert.
