A number of months ago a home being refurbished to accommodate wheelchair-bound people was set ablaze, delaying the launching of another branch of the ‘Al Galgalim’ organization. The building was a place where the disabled meet and enjoy activities in a familiar surrounding, in a structure designed to accommodate their special needs.
Some NIS 200,000 and four months later, the building is complete and over the weekend, the disabled folks began making their way to Even Sapir, in the Yerushalayim corridor.
The community’s director, Moshe Franco, was on hand to greet them, explaining he wishes to get off on the right foot, expressing his pleasure with the new neighbors opting to settle in his community.
Many neighbors brought baked goods and cakes, and some of the wheelchair bound visitors made their way to shul and were given aliyas on Shabbos.
When asked if it is possible that the building was not set ablaze by opponents to the group’s presence four months ago, perhaps an electrical short circuit, Avreimi Torem of Al Galgalim stated it was most unlikely considering at the time of the fire, the building was no connected to the electric grid.
