SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Sunday, Day 26 of the virtual Gaza ceasefire.

*Border police David Shriki, who was shot in the head in a Friday night terror attack, remains in critical condition in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.

*Authorities on Shabbos morning raided the yeshiva in Yishuv Itamar in Shomron and arrested Gilad Herman, the chief suspect in a rocket attack against the Arab village of Burin a number of weeks ago.

*Rocks were thrown at Israeli motorists traveling near Qalqilye in Shomron on motzei Shabbos. No injuries.

*Iran continues to release threats against an attack. In a latest statement, a senior official stated Iran will destroy the heart of Israel is a retaliatory action.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*Spain and France offer to play a major role in peace-making efforts between Israel and Syria.

*French attorneys hired by the Shalit family report Gilad is being held in an underground tunnel by two factions of Hamas.

*Police: Olmert embezzled non-profits, accepting payment for airline tickets from multiple organizations, pocketing the profit which amounted to $110,000.

*Police likely to question Olmert’s wife and children, who all benefited from his airline ticketing scam, providing them with free airfare.

*Despite the latest allegations against PM Olmert revealed by police, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Ehud Barak remain silent, preferring not to comment. Analysts explain they are too busy weighing the ramifications vis-à-vis their campaigns to deal with the realities of the corruption in the PM’s Office.

*Ma’ariv: Olmert’s children stated the airline tickets they received were a “gift from abba”.
