SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Wednesday, day 22 of the virtual Gaza ceasefire.

*A driver escaped a fiery death on Tuesday night when a firebomb was hurled at him while traveling between near Gitai Junction in Shomron. The vehicle was totally destroyed. Baruch Hashem, the driver escaped uninjured, realizing quickly what was taken place, enabling him to get out in time.

*20:30: A Kassam rocket fired at southern Israel landed in an area under Hamas control.

*IDF soldiers involved in counter-terror operations in Yehuda and Shomron arrested seven suspected terrorists. The suspects in custody were transferred to ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) custody for interrogation.

*PA: IDF forces on Wednesday raided Shechem City Hall confiscating computers and documents. Soldiers also seized a number of buses in the city.

*Arab media reports state Iran successfully fired a Shehab-3 ballistic missile capable of striking Israel.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*Ofer Dekel left for Germany to discuss the Hizbullah report on Ron Arad. Initial reports from Germany indicate the Germans are not pleased with the content of the report, which does not provide any new information regarding missing IAF navigator Ron Arad.

*Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Tuesday told visiting Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D’Alema that Hizbullah must be disarmed in compliance with UN Resolution 1701.

*The weatherman is warning of heavy heat stress levels towards the weekend around the country with unseasonably hot weather expected.

*A driver who fell asleep driving during the predawn hours slammed into a policeman at Yishai Junction, killing him. The driver is a member of the IDF career army.

*An Israeli is reported missing in Peru following a rafting accident. Embassy officials are dealing with the situation.
