A veteran terrorist prisoner, Sitai Eluli, a member of the Druse community who has been imprisoned for the past 23 years, was released by Israel due to his deteriorating health, the daily Haaretz reported.

Following his release, he was transferred to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, the closest hospital to his home community of Majdal Shams.

He was serving prison time for his role in the planning and perpetration of terror attacks in the Golan Heights area.
