Italian Minister Calls to Disarm Hizbullah

Visiting Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini met on Tuesday with President Shimon Peres.

Italy issued a call to implement United Nations Resolution 1701, which led to the ceasefire in the Second Lebanon War. A major point in the ceasefire that has been ignored to date is the disarming of Hizbullah.

Despite grandiose statements by Israeli politicians, Jerusalem continues to turn a blind eye to the fact that not only is Hizbullah not disarming, but intelligence reports the terror organization has significantly rehabilitated itself since the war.

Nevertheless, Israel is moving ahead with the Regev-Goldwasser prisoner exchange deal, trading live and dead terrorists for the bodies of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser. In the meantime, the Hizbullah threat according to intelligence officials is a growing one, having stated Hizbullah’s missiles are pointed at major Israeli population centers.
