Israel: Court Rejects Petition of Shachar Family

The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a petition filed by the Almagor terror victims’ association and the family of terror victim Eliyahu Shachar, the Israeli policeman murdered in the 1979 terror attack perpetrated by Samir Kuntar.

The petitioners explained that they feel the Regev-Goldwasser prisoner exchange deal contradicts the recommendations of the Winograd Commission in addition to encouraging addition kidnappings of soldiers by terrorists.

They were seeking an injunction delaying the implementation of the exchange deal but the court rejected their request.

Israel this week signed the release deal handled by a UN official and government representative Ofer Dekel on Tuesday night left for Germany to discuss the Hizbullah report on Ron Arad with officials involved in negotiating the deal between Israel and Hizbullah.
