Israel: Corruption Investigations Move Ahead

Partly due to the investigation that is being conducted in the United States in connection to the Olmert-Talansky affair, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will on Friday be questioned by police for a third time. Police indicated the session will require a minimum of two hours.

Speaking to Kol Chai Radio, NRP head Zevulun Orlev stated that after the Winograd Commission and the Talansky testimony, Olmert should have resigned and the quicker he decides to do so, the better is will be for the entire country.

In the case of former Finance Minister Avraham Hirschson, the Jerusalem District Court has sent a message to the prosecution and the former minister’s legal team, advising them to seek to hammer out a plea bargain agreement which will serve the interest of both sides. Hirschson is alleged to have pocketed NIS millions.
