After 83 days of sanctions and striking, state-employed social workers have reached a deal with the treasury and are planning to return to work on Sunday.
The social workers were not seeking a salary increase or other social benefits, but demanded an increased budget to permit hiring 1,000 additional social workers to assist in meeting the growing workload.
The agreement calls for allocating an additional NIS 14 million to their annual budget towards permitting the hiring of 220 additional professionals.
