Israel’s Health Ministry reported on Sunday that the vast majority of COVID patients attached to ECMO machines are unvaccinated.
According to the ministry, fully vaccinated patients rarely require ECMOS. Interestingly, one result of that fact is that out of 252 patients attached to EMCOs due to COVID, 212 were under the age of 60, due to the high vaccination rate among Israelis over age 60.
“People who are vaccinated suffer milder symptoms of COVID-19,” chairman of the Israeli ECMO Association, Dr. Yigal Kasif, said. “There is something in the vaccine which prevents the virus from destroying the body’s defenses. It is simple, vaccines work.”
“We spoke of this last year when there were small numbers of vaccinated patients in need of ECMO, but it is even more evident now,” he said. “The most gravely ill need the ECMO machine after their lungs had collapsed.”
“The machine oxidizes the blood in place of the lungs, and its use is a clear indication of the gravity of the illness. During this fifth wave, we haven’t seen the same number of patients that we had in the Delta wave, because more people were vaccinated and because the Omicron variant of COVID-19 settles more in the upper respiratory system and less in the lungs.”
According to the Health Ministry, 18 COVID patients are currently attached to ECMO machines, versus 50 during the Delta wave.

In additional to generally less serious cases among vaccinated, it may be that 1-2 months ago when there was a mixture of Omicron and Delta, unvaccinated were getting more Delta, while vaccinated were protected much more from Delta infections than from Omicron. So, vaccinated were getting mostly Omicron that is easier on lungs.

this is not true. Israeli vaccination rates were high at the beginning, but are now behind Europe and similar to US. They had a spike in cases recently but rates of serious diseases and cases over longer time are lower than Europe and way lower than US.

This article reports that there are currently 18 unvaccinated people attached to ECMO machines in Israel out of a population of 9,408,100, but it fails to report that millions of Israelis have either gotten Omicron or currently have it, and are not attached to ECMO machines. What comorbidities do these 18 individuals have? How old are they? Meanwhile, the CDC just signaled a change to its covid injection schedule due to the dramatic increase in heart complications/blood clots. Where is the reporting on that?

JAMA just published a cross-sectional study of unvaccinated U.S. adults, titled Prevalence and Durability of SARS-CoV-2 Antibodies Among Unvaccinated U.S. Adults by History of COVID-19. Antibodies were detected in 99% of individuals 20 months after a positive test.
As a comparison, any benefit from the injection (ignoring the million+ adverse reactions reported) lasts for only 90 days. Three months. Multiple doses are required – a clear indication that the vaccine isn’t working. If natural infection gives you long-lived or lifetime immunity, so should the vaccine. If it doesn’t, you should rethink getting injected.

Furthermore, many reports say that longer intervals between shots makes protection better in a long term. The original 3-4 week recommendation was due to the original phase 3 trials conducted that way to speed up life-saving protection to population.
The rule of thumb seems to be that you need at least 3 exposures to the virus to be ragil, with exposures being separated by a longer time period. Any exposure count: either virus (and risk to health) or vaccine.

Are Israeli hospitals really overloaded with unvaccinated COVID patients? According to Prof. Yaakov Jerris, director of Ichilov Hospital’s coronavirus ward, the situation is completely opposite.
“Right now, most of our severe cases are vaccinated,” Jerris told Channel 13 News. “They had at least three injections. Between seventy and eighty percent of the serious cases are vaccinated. So, the vaccine has no significance regarding severe illness, which is why just twenty to twenty-five percent of our patients are unvaccinated.”
