A man in his late 30s was lightly injured in a stabbing attack that took place on Shabbos morning at the Ma’arat HaMachpela in Hevron. Magen David Adom ambulance teams treated him at the scene for his injuries. The Palestinian woman who attacked him was shot and neutralized at the scene.

Former Prime Minister and leader of the opposition Binyamin Netanyahu was found to be negative for the Coronavirus after he was exposed to four staffers at the Knesset who tested positive for the disease. Among the four were some who were suspected to have contracted the Omicron variant of the disease. Netanyahu, together with another 130 workers in the Knesset, as well as MK Simone Davidson (Yesh Atid) were ordered to quarantine as well.

The Health Minsitry in Israel issued its regular update with regard to the Coronavirus and said that 873 Israelis tested positive for the virus on Friday. This was the second day in a row with more than 850 positive cases in Israel, as Thursday saw 861 positive cases. Another 264 people tested positive on Shabbos. There are currently 128 people hospitalized due to the disease in Israel, 81 of them are in serious condition with 41 attached to respirators. Among those who are in serious condition, nearly 80 percent of them were not vaccinated at all. From the onset of the disease in Israel, 8,232 people have died, two of them passed away on Friday.

The total number of infected people who either have or are suspected of carrying the Omicron variant is 627. However, among those, the symptoms are either non-existent or very light.

High-Ranking members of the government have stated that Prime Minister Bennett is expected to lessen the frequency of his public appearances due to the spread of the Omicron variant. The sources said that at this time, the government is not discussing a general lockdown, however, if the numbers continue to rise drastically, there may not be a way to prevent one from being necessary.

A resident of Lod was moderately wounded after he was shot on Tzahal Street in the city. A statement by the police spokesperson said that officers who responded to the incident are conducting searches and gathering evidence in order to find the perpetrator and are conducting a thorough investigation.

A 52-year-old Tel Aviv man was found lying on a park bench in the Neve Sheanan neighborhood with signs of hypothermia. United Hatzalah volunteers and Magen David Adom ambulance teams performed CPR and transported the man to Ichilov Hospital. However, the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Another man, 89-years-old, was found unconscious also with signs of hypothermia, this time in Arad. He was treated at the scene by United Hatzalah volunteers and Magen David Adom ambulance teams and was transported to Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva and was listed as being in moderate-to-serious condition upon arrival.

Israeli Justice Minister Gide’on Sa’ar (New Hope) signed new regulations allowing victims of sexual assault to testify in court without having to testify in front of their alleged attacker. The regulations, which went into effect immediately, include the erasure of the requirement to have a professional evaluation with regard to the status of the victims, and will simply accept the request of the witness/plaintiff to testify to the court with the alleged perpetrator in the room.

Professor Menachem Alkalai, a leading professor of gynecology at Sheba Medical Center has announced that he will be taking a leave of absence, for an undisclosed period of time, following numerous accusations that he assaulted several women who were his patients. The hospital issued a statement that read: “In light of this turn of events, the appointments and clinic visits that he was scheduled to hold have been canceled and will now be taken on by a different doctor within the department. We will continue to uphold the directives given to us by the civil service commissioner.”

200 people protested at the String Bridge in Jerusalem on Motzei Shabbos under the banner of “Stopping the wave of Terror”. The protesters disrupted traffic at the location. The Police have thus far arrested three protesters for blocking the streets.
