4:00PM IL: (UPDATE BELOW) The cabinet moments ago voted to accept the proposed prisoner release deal with Hizbullah to obtain the bodies of IDF soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser. 22 ministers voted in favor and three ministers abstained.
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told ministers that after a difficult period of uncertainty, he decided to vote in favor of the deal, informing the ministers ahead of the vote that as far as Israeli is concerned, based in investigations and intelligence reports, the two soldiers are dead and the vote should be with the understanding that they are bringing home bodies, not live soldiers.
Miki Goldwasser, Ehud’s mother, stated that no one can know with absolute certainty that the soldiers are not alive.

This is pure murder. The released prisoners will kill more Jews and their blood will be on the heads of all those who voted for this deal. Even if the soldiers were alive it would be forbidden to make such a deal, kol shekein if they’re dead. Ein podin es hasvuyin yeser al kedei demeihen, which nowadays is zero.
Let us hope they are alive and well.

Disgusting. There is no such thing as Justice in modern Israel. The cabinet has just sealed the fate of its citizens to be killed and kidnapped indiscriminately, as even arab child killers do not need to face justice.

I dont understand. Who are we to say that its good or not “ain lonu al mi lismoch ela al avinu shebashomaim”! We have to be mispalel that Hashem should give those in charge the right decision. All they could do is look at the facts they have in front of them. We have two soldiers in captivity dead r”l or alive and we have to do the best we can to get them home, even for kever yisroel. It is not for us to say that these freed terrorists will do this or that, they have rotzchim ready to do the job with or without them. Will somebody please explain what Israel is thinking? Let’s say the soldier’s are alive, what is stopping the terrorist’s from killing them now, and why shouldn’t Israel do the same when they capture a terrorist, don’t tell anyone if they are alive or dead and you’ll never have to give back a live pig.
