Former Chief Rabbi Yonah Metzger, who was arrested on suspicion of fraud, tax evasion, accepting bribes and money laundering was released to house arrest on Tuesday morning 23 Kislev by the Rishon L’tzion Magistrate Court. The rabbi may not have contact without anyone involved in the case; he may not leave the country, and had to put up a sizable bail.
In the same matter, the state witnesses against the rabbi had to leave his apartment in light of graffiti against him and his family for testifying for the state against Rabbi Metzger. Amid rumors that he plans to leave the country, Yisrael Hayom reports he told the newspaper that he has no such plans. This state witness, a former close confidant of the rav, was seen leaving his home on Monday, 22 Kislev carrying large suitcases.

Not to condone any illegalities, but I’m not envious of the gehinom in store for the moiser.
There are many stories of yidden that went to jail (for small/ miinor) issues because they wouldn’t give up the “big fish”
kasher, moiser is mutar in certain circumstances, it is dangerous to imply what you are implying i.e. that moiser is always wrong, in child abuse cases, in abuse of women and possibly in this case where the actions of the individual concerned are a danger to the tzibbur then it is muttar
Rabbis, and public figures must be especially careful not to violate laws to maintain the trust of the public. It is sad that some are attracted to money at the risk of being exposed as a fraud. It is a Hillul-Hashem.
