A 22-year-old male was taken into custody by Jerusalem police for stealing money from a Modi’in Illit mikve. The suspect was taken into custody on Sunday, 21 Kislev 5774.

Last week a police complaint was filed by mikve officials in Brechfeld after a break-in was discovered along with the theft of the money on the premises. Officials viewed the video footage from the mikve camera and one of the policemen recognized the man from Yerushalayim, who used to learn in the community.

The man was summoned by police for questioning and he confessed to his actions, explaining his dire economic situation pushed him to act as he did.

The suspect was released with restrictions.
