Ofer Dekel on Thursday traveled to Egypt where he is continuing talks with Egyptian Intelligence Chief General Omar Suleiman. Israeli officials continue to release messages that everything possible is being done towards obtaining Gilad Shalit’s release, but on Thursday, sources added “there is nevertheless a limit”.
Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) reported at 10:00AM that the latest Hamas proposal for the soldier’s release would entail Israel releasing many terrorists, including those with “blood on their hands.”
The current numbers speak of some 300 terrorists released in the first stage, which will compel Hamas to move Shalit to Egypt. Only a month later when Israel releases another 550 prisoners, mostly women and children, will Shalit be released.
According to Hamas, Israel still objects to 75% of the names on the Hamas list of prisoners to be released. (Yechiel Spira – YWN Israel)
