If you are an employee in Ben-Gurion International Airport, parking is going to quite a bit more expensive beginning January 1, 2014, actually 30% more expensive. This sharp rate increase will not impact visitors and travelers, only persons parking in the employee parking lot. The rate hike will impact close to 10,000 employees.
People working in the airport pay an annual fee for parking, which will now cost 3,960 NIS. A company purchasing 50 parking slots or more receives a discount and is charged 3,366 NIS.
The Airport Authority raised rates in 2013, and was compelled to back down amid an audible public outcry. Perhaps there will be a repeat following the latest rate hike.
Some workers have already announced they will find a parking space in nearby Lod and then take a bus to the airport for their salaries simply do not permit such an expense.
