Gaza sources report a split in the Izzadin el-Kassam military wing of Hamas in Gaza.

Haaretz reports that Gaza sources report that they attempted to oust Izzadin el-Kassam leader Ahmed al-Jabri and replace him with Imad Akel but the move failed, resulting in a split, two factions within the Izzadin military wing of Hamas.

Apparently, al-Jabri is independent, unwilling to take instructions or fall in line with Gaza’s Hamas government, resulting in an autonomous operation.

This became increasingly apparent during recent weeks when Gaza police attempted to arrest a number of Izzadin el-Kassam members on suspicion of criminal activity but they resisted, leading to shootouts.
