The son of a former Israel-allied Southern Lebanese Army soldier, approximately 21, on Tuesday climbed the border fence west of Metula and returned to Lebanon.

The incident occurred during the morning hours, and an alert was declared after a border patrol detected tracks along the border. It was soon realized that the tracks were from one person, heading out of Israel, not in. The incident was turned over to the jurisdiction of Israel Police.

It appears the young man never found his place in Israel and decided to return to Lebanon. Lebanese officials report he was taken for questioning in Sidon.

When Israel retreated from the security zone in southern Lebanon, arrangements were made to permit members of the SLA army and their families to settle in Israel, realizing they are considered traitors in Lebanon and would face imprisonment or the death sentence for assisting Israel.
