According to a Ynet report, quoting an unnamed “senior Israeli official who took part in Tuesday’s meeting in Egypt between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak,” Egypt has agreed to permit the Rafiach Crossing from Gaza to Sinai to remain closed for now, until IDF Corporal Gilad Shalit is released.
During the Sharm el-Sheikh meeting, Mubarak told Olmert that he will continue exerting pressure towards obtaining the release of Gilad Shalit, who remains in Hamas custody.
According to the Ynet report, Egypt remains committed to assisting, and will not open the Rafiach Crossing until Shalit is set free.
