Noam and Aviva Shalit, the parents of captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, met on Monday with visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy, calling upon him to assist in obtaining their son’s release from Hamas captivity.
While no one has seen Shalit since his abduction during a terror attack in Kerem Shalom on June 25, 2006, he is believed to be in Hamas-controlled Gaza.
The visiting president expressed his solidarity with the grieving parents, assuring them he too will assist in ongoing efforts to obtain their son’s release.
