WATCH: Songs of Deveikus At Neilas HaChag Tisch In Yeshivas Ponevezh

Hundreds of yeshivah bochurim participated in the ‘Neilas haChag’ tisch in Yeshivas Ponevezh immediately after Simchas Torah ended on Tuesday night.

The bochurim sang songs of dveikus during the special event, which is held every year.

The tisch was headed by the Roshei Yeshivos HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein and HaGaon HaRav Dov Povarsky.

  1. I learnt in Ponovezh in the 90s.
I am truly happy to see the Yeshiva Bochurim along with the Roshei Yeshiva singing Nigunim of the Lubavitcher Rebbe ZATZAL.
Amazing to see the direction the great Yeshiva has taken, after all Maran Harav Shteinman Shlita learnt in Lubavitch in Russia by HaRav Shneur ZT”L and HaGaon HoRav Provarski Shlita learnt in Lubavitch in Lod, pretty incredible that they are both Talmidim of Lubavitch in their youth.
We are truly living in a very special time where true Torah Yiddin are one and united despite our differences.
As someone who now goes to the Tzion of the Lubavitcher Rebbe ZT”L, I am truly amazed at the dynamic variety of Jews of all stripes, Yeshivish, Litvish Chasidish, Sfard, Modern Ortho… it gives me inspiration seeing that we are truly one.

  2. The fact is that there are numerous songs of Hasidic origin that are sometimes sung by Litvishe or Yeshivishe. Some examples: הושיעה את עמך, composed by the late Rabbi Dr. Abraham Shea Twerski (einekel of the Alter Rebbe of Lubavitch), א-לי אתה ואודך song of the Alter Rebbe of Lubavitch, ימים על ימי מלך (from Sekulener Rebbe I think), and on and on. That does not mean that the singers are joining Hasidism. They are just enjoying some singing. Let’s not delude ourselves. Ponevezh, the yeshiva of the great Rav Schach ztvk”l, is still strongly in the Misnagdic camp, even if some bochurim sing a Lubavitch song once a year.
