Dozens of extremists protested against Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion as he visited a Talmud Torah in the Bar Ilan neighborhood on Monday morning.
The extremists protested against the mayor due to their opposition to the ongoing construction of infrastructure for the light rail train that will pass through the neighborhood.
Police forces arrived at the scene and protected the mayor as he quickly left the scene. One protestor who clashed with the police was arrested.

On Sunday, Lion traveled to the home of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanivesky to receive a bracha before Yom Kippur, like he does every year.

“Dozens of extremists ” ??? Looks like the usual “LayDic Gayers , out Hullying ,instead of sitting ,& learning !!!
Even during aseres y’mai Tshuvah, these animals attack the mayor of yerushalayim over a badly needed public transportation option that will benefit the large percentage of the city’s residents, including the majority of Chareidim who use buses and light rail. At some point, the tolerance shown to this small fringe of the chareidi tzibur needs to change and such behavior should be dealt with forcefully.
Wow, a new dictionary!
Disagreeable protester = Extremist.
Extricate from non-violent protest = Save.
There was no danger to the mayor, the protestor have a valid personal concern, and the police were violent in there attempt. But Yeshiva World still repeats the media’s hateful rhetoric.
I see neither “dozens” or “extremists” just a few kids…
Just sayin’
Totally misleading title. Not condoning what they’re doing but I expected to see a mob about to pounce on the mayor with glass bottles and baseball bats and police saving him in the nick of time.
Stop being drama queens when it comes to these politics. There was no mob, there were just a few young buchimlach screaming and 3-4 trying to block traffic.
truth be told, I think the putting a rail train though the heart of a quiet religious area with out asking the residents permission is poor judgement. I will cause a change in the value of the properties.
but still…..
