Thousand Of Israelis Across The Country Daven For Barel

Hundreds of Israelis daven for Barel outside Saroka Hospital.

Israelis across the country are davening for Bar-el Achiya ben Nitza, who was critically wounded when an Arab shot him in the face at point-blank range during a riot by the Gaza border on Shabbos.

On Monday night after midnight, hundreds of people gathered outside Soroka Hospital, where Bar-el is hospitalized, to recite Selichos and daven for his refuah

Bar-el’s father, Yossi Shmueli, participated in the moving tefillos. For some of the Israelis who participated, it was the first time that they recited Selichos.

The tefillah was led by the Chief Rabbi of Be’er Sheva HaRav Yehuda Deri, the Rav of the Chareidi kehilla in Be’er Sheva HaRav Yosef Chaim Batzri, and the Rav of Soroka Hospital. HaRav Ezriel Edri.

Simcha Goldin, the father of slain soldier Hadar Goldin, h’yd, whose body is still being held captive by Hamas, went to visit Bar-el’s parents and was interviewed by a reporter in the hospital. Goldin expressed the anger that many Israelis are feeling about the constant conflict with Hamas and the lack of deterrence in response to attack after attack.

“The last weeks of the ‘ceasefire is like after Operation Protective Edge,” Goldin said. “The result here in the hospital is a direct result of that. Every time the same thing – it’s the same people bringing us to the same situation.”
