Intelligence community officials are calling upon the IDF Chief Rabbinate to formally declare Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser as soldiers who fell in the line of duty and whose burial location is yet unknown.

The most recent call is in line with the majority voice that the two soldiers did not survive the attack in July 2006 which led to their falling into Hizbullah hands.

There is also a growing sentiment that prior to the cabinet and the government making any decision regarding a proposed prisoner deal towards the release of the two, the government must first ascertain if the soldiers are dead or alive.
